GenAI for Educators- Online Course

“As artificial intelligence proliferates, users who intimately understand the nuances, limitations, and abilities of AI tools are uniquely positioned to unlock AI’s full innovative potential. These user innovators are often the source of breakthrough ideas for new products and services.”-Ethan Mollick, Professor, Wharton and author of ‘Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI’

Hello from the Gifted World team!

In this post, we share details about our 5-session online course ‘GenAI for Educators’ that starts on Apr 4 and ends on May 2. It runs on Fridays from 430-630 PM IST. Parents interested in understanding AI better and guiding their children on effective usage for learning and avoiding pitfalls can also register for the course.

If you want to participate in this as a school, please reach out to siddharth@genwise.in or +91-8762703967. If you want to join as an individual, visit - www.giftedworld.org/genai. The course has 10 hours of online sessions, including 4 hours of hands-on work. In addition, participants will work on hands-on assignments in-between sessions.

The course is taught by thought leader in GenAI, Dr. Navin Kabra. You can read his newsletter on AI here.

The last edition of this course had 32 participants and was widely embraced, with very positive feedback from the educators. Here’s what some of them said-

  • There was more than one ‘aha’ moment in the course. I was thrilled when I could create a song on suno.com. I could compare the different textbooks in notebook LM and draw findings and reasons for a better one to be used in a classroom. I can create resources, analyze data, research on a topic and also create PPTs so easily and quickly with the use of LLMs. The workshop was very useful as the tools introduced can actually be practiced on a regular basis and time can be utilised in a more meaningful and efficient manner.

  • Teachers definitely need exposure to these tools, as many in the teaching community still do not use them. They may hesitate to modify content or teaching methods, perceiving it as time-consuming. However, these sessions can help enhance efficiency and streamline lesson preparation.

Why Every Educator Needs to Embrace GenAI (and How You Can Lead the Way)

We are living in a time of remarkable technological transformation. The rise of Generative AI (GenAI) is changing the way we work, communicate, and learn. It is already quite present in education - students are already using GenAI tools to research, write, solve problems, and express ideas in new ways. It is enabling them to move faster, explore more widely, and personalise their learning in ways we couldn’t have imagined a few years ago.

Yet, alongside these exciting opportunities lie real concerns. Many students are beginning to rely too heavily on GenAI. They may skip the struggle of problem-solving, bypass the slow process of crafting ideas and forming conceptual connections across fields of learning. Instead of using AI to deepen understanding, there's a risk of it becoming a crutch that weakens essential thinking and writing abilities. Without proper guidance, students may accept AI-generated outputs uncritically, potentially spreading misinformation or reinforcing existing biases.

This shift creates an urgent and exciting opportunity for educators, school leaders, and parents. As GenAI becomes woven into the fabric of learning, those who understand and harness it effectively will be leaders. By becoming fluent in GenAI, educators can amplify their teaching impact, guide students toward responsible usage, and ensure that our schools remain relevant and future-ready.

Why GenAI Matters to Educators, School Leaders, and Parents

Educators are superheroes in our society—guiding, mentoring, and inspiring the next generation. We like to think of GenAI as a powerful sidekick, enhancing your teaching capabilities, automating routine tasks, and enabling deeper, more personalised student interactions. However, before your sidekick is effective, you need to learn their working style, their limitations, and practice at working together on problems.

For school leadership, GenAI presents transformative potential to significantly boost teaching capacity across your institution. By equipping educators with AI literacy, you can foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and excellence, ensuring your school remains at the forefront of educational evolution.

And for parents, understanding GenAI's impact on education is critical. As AI reshapes industries and career landscapes, equipping your child with the right guidance and skills now ensures they’re well-prepared for a future where AI literacy isn't just beneficial—it's essential.

Instructor Profile and Course Benefits

Dr. Navin Kabra has designed the course and will be the lead instructor. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.Tech from IIT-Bombay. He's the CTO at ReliScore and a Professor of Practice at IIT-Bombay. Recently, he’s consulted on Gen AI for software and engineering firms, taught intensive Gen AI courses for high-school students at GenWise summer camps, and delivered invited talks and workshops on Gen AI to teachers, doctors, industrialists, investors, and researchers.

This online course empowers you to:

  • Collaborate effectively with GenAI in everyday educational tasks.

  • Identify and safely manage potential AI-related pitfalls and biases.

  • Develop responsible AI guidelines for students.

  • Foster sustainable, institutional AI practices, enhancing your school’s overall capability.
