Get a certificate by completing the program.

Students will learn the basic elements of how to construct and write a story. We will explore different types of storytelling techniques by dissecting a few stories and trying to understand the mechanics of how a good story works. We will also look at how different authors grab (and keep) a reader's attention, create tension and drama, and wind down to a satisfying conclusion that leaves the reader happy/sad/thoughtful. At the end of the course, we hope that the students will have an array of skills that will help them start off on their own storytelling journeys. We will mainly focus on written stories, and will also venture into the world of visual (comics and videos) and oral (audio, performance). Attendees meet with the course instructor on Saturdays, 5-6:30 PM GST | 6:30 - 7:45 PM IST Course Highlights: 1. Pixar's Storytelling Principles: Students will explore Pixar's renowned storytelling rules, learning how these guidelines can be applied to a wide range of storytelling formats. 2. Character Development: The course focuses on creating multi-dimensional characters, delving into their motivations, transformations, and the roles they play in driving the narrative forward. 3. Plot and Structure: Students will gain insights into structuring a story effectively, understanding the elements of a compelling plot, and mastering the art of building suspense and resolution. 4. Emotional Connection: Emphasizing the heart of storytelling, the course guides students in crafting narratives that forge strong emotional connections with audiences, regardless of the medium. 5. Creative Expression: Encouraging imaginative storytelling, students will have the opportunity to write their own stories, applying Pixar's rules to develop narratives that are both unique and engaging. Storytelling Secrets is designed to ignite a passion for storytelling in young minds, equipping them with the skills to tell stories that are not just heard but felt and remembered.
