Storytelling Secrets: Mastering the Art of Narrative

Students will learn the basic elements of how to construct and write a story. We will explore different types of storytelling techniques by dissecting a few stories and trying to understand the mechanics of how a good story works. We will also look at how different authors grab (and keep) a reader's attention, create tension and drama, and wind down to a satisfying conclusion that leaves the reader happy/sad/thoughtful. At the end of the course, we hope that the students will have an array of skills that will help them start off on their own storytelling journeys. We will mainly focus on written stories, and will also venture into the world of visual (comics and videos) and oral (audio, performance). Attendees meet with the course instructor on Saturdays, 5-6:30 PM GST | 6:30 - 7:45 PM IST Course Highlights: 1. Plot and Structure: Students will gain insights into structuring a story effectively, understanding the elements of a compelling plot, and mastering the art of building suspense and resolution. 4. Creative Expression: Encouraging imaginative storytelling, students will have the opportunity to write their own stories, applying Pixar's rules to develop narratives that are both unique and engaging.
